What this notice covers
This notice covers the informational website and enquiries sent to our contact address. The website has no customer accounts, mailing-list sign-up, enquiry form, payment checkout or application-file upload. It does not receive sequence files from the Mac application.
Information processed
- Website requests: hosting and network services receive technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as your IP address, requested page, request time, browser information and, where supplied, a referring page. They may process security and diagnostic records.
- Operational information: Cloudflare provides request totals, errors and performance information as part of hosting and protecting the website. We may use this information to check availability, investigate faults and respond to security problems.
- Email enquiries: we receive your email address, any name or organisation you provide, your message, attachments and associated email headers. Providing this information is voluntary; we may be unable to reply without contact details.
Please do not send patient information, sensitive personal information, passwords or confidential research files. A description of a general company or product question is usually enough.
Why we use information
We use technical information to deliver, maintain and protect the website, and enquiry information to read and answer messages and keep necessary correspondence. Our UK GDPR lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure company website and handling enquiries. We may also retain or disclose information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not add enquirers to a marketing list. We do not use this website to make decisions about you solely by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Website analytics and operational information
Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics, its browser measurement script and Network Error Logging are disabled. We do not use advertising trackers or audience analytics on this website.
Cloudflare still processes technical traffic information to deliver and protect the site and provides operational metrics about requests, errors and performance. Disabling optional Web Analytics does not turn off this infrastructure processing. We use operational information only to maintain the website and investigate faults or security issues; we do not match it with email enquiries, profile visitors or target advertising.
Our legitimate interest in keeping the website available and secure is the basis for our use of personal information for these purposes. Your right to object is explained below. See Cloudflare’s operational metrics documentation and our cookies notice for more information.
Hosting and email services
The website is hosted directly on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes information on our behalf under its customer data-processing terms where it acts as our processor. It also processes some information for its own service security, administration and legal purposes, as described in its Privacy Policy.
Incoming email to our support address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a free Gmail mailbox. We use that mailbox to read and reply to enquiries. Google provides the mailbox under its general terms and Privacy Policy; it is not a Google Workspace business mailbox.
Provider information is available from Cloudflare and Google.
We may share relevant information with professional advisers or authorities where necessary for advice, a legal duty or the protection of legal rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
International processing
Our providers operate internationally, including in the United States, so information may be processed outside the UK or your country of residence. We do not promise that website or email information stays in the UK.
Cloudflare’s customer data-processing terms include safeguards for relevant international transfers, including standard contractual clauses and the UK Addendum where applicable. Google publishes its transfer arrangements, including its participation in the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
See the Cloudflare data-processing terms and Google transfer information. You can contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information and, where available, how to obtain a copy.
How long information is kept
We normally keep ordinary company and product enquiries for 12 months after the enquiry is closed, then review them for deletion during our quarterly mailbox review. We may delete unnecessary information sooner.
We keep particular correspondence for longer only where there is a continuing business need, legal obligation, complaint or legal claim. We record the reason and review whether continued retention is necessary. We remove unnecessary attachments and downloaded copies as part of the same review.
Our website code does not create a visitor database or keep request logs, and stored Worker logs and traces are disabled. Cloudflare still processes delivery, diagnostic, security and operational information. Its retention depends on the service, the purpose and applicable legal requirements; disabling optional analytics does not mean that every infrastructure record is immediately deleted.
We keep any technical records we obtain only while needed to investigate a fault or incident or meet a legal obligation. We review retained copies quarterly, delete them when that purpose ends, and record the reason and next review date for longer retention. The enquiry-retention period above does not describe Cloudflare’s infrastructure retention.
Providers may separately retain information for their own service-security, fraud-prevention or legal purposes under their privacy notices. Their retention and backup schedules differ; we have not verified a single fixed deletion period for all hosting records. See the Cloudflare and Google privacy notices. Deletion from our active mailbox does not promise immediate removal from every provider backup. Our cookies notice explains website storage and security checks.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the law that applies and the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Send your request to support@seqatlas.com. No special form or account is required. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, normally one month for a UK GDPR request, and explain if a permitted extension applies.
You can raise a privacy complaint by email or by writing to our registered office. We will acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate appropriately, keep you informed and provide an outcome without undue delay. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Where applicable, you may contact the data protection authority in the EEA country where you live or work.
Tracking and US visitors
We do not sell personal information, use advertising trackers, or share information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Optional website analytics is disabled for all visitors, regardless of browser privacy signals. The technical processing needed for hosting and security described above continues when you visit the website.
You can use the contact address above to request access, correction or deletion of information you supplied, including if you are visiting from the United States. This does not limit any rights available under applicable law.
Children
This company website about research software is intended for adults and professional or academic users. It is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review and address it.
Changes and external links
We will update this notice and its date when our practices change. For a material change, we will place a prominent notice on the website and, where appropriate, contact affected correspondents directly using the contact details we already hold. We will explain a new use of personal information before starting it and obtain consent where required; publishing a revised notice does not itself give us permission to use information for a new purpose.
New account, payment or application services will have relevant privacy information before they are offered. External websites have their own privacy practices. See our cookies notice for website storage information.
